How to care for your Bamboo Straw
As each reusable straw is made from a natural Bamboo Stalk, it needs to be
cared for in a different way to a plastic or metal straw.
Ideally the straws should be rinsed under the tap after use and washed in
warm soapy water. A coconut fibre brush may have been provided to give a
little help if needed.
You can soak them for a minute in boiling water with a spoonful of vinegar
periodically if you need to sterilise them.
Alternatively, they can be placed in a dishwasher or glass washer but the heat
from this may reduce their life.
After washing the straws, they should be placed at an angle or vertically to
allow the water to drain out and left to dry fully.
Always store the straws in a well-ventilated place and never in an airtight
container.
The straws should be long lasting but as they are an individual natural product,
should be checked for splitting and replaced if needed.
Do teach children to respect their straws and explain that if they bite them this
will cause the straws to crack.
Cherish your straws and remember that by choosing bamboo over plastic you
are helping to reduce plastic waste and to protect our ecosystems
